Introducing: Isabella Nicole Carlson

On Monday, December 21, 2009 at 12:57pm Isabella Nicole Carlson became apart of our lives. She weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. She has a beautiful blonde head of hair and blue eyes (when she decides to open them!). We had to stay in the hospital a little longer as she had to be delivered via C-Section. Not as we had planned but it was determined that this was the best option with her position in the womb. It wasn't without it's complications, however, and Izze had to spend the first 1/2 day in NICU to get some help with her breathing. We also learned that her legs had been positioned in an awkward way ultimately causing hip dysplasia (her hip joints didn't fully form so they dislocate easily). Unfortunately, Izze will be wearing a brace for the first 3 months to help mold her hip joints into position. It doesn't make changing diapers any easier but we know it is best for her in order to correct the issue. Please keep the healing of her joints in your prayers and that she will make a full recovery. All things considered, we are overjoyed and grateful to have a healthy baby girl as we dive into the challenges of parenthood. We made it home on Christmas Eve and hosted Christmas at our house with our family. Izze is the best Christmas present that we could have asked for.
